Eco-base Environmental Education Building, Pennyburn, Derry

Multi-purpose building located within the existing “Playtrail” facility at the Belmont School campus. The project demonstrates use of sustainable and recycled materials including straw bale walls, lime renders and paints, recycled rubber slates, insulation from recycled newspapers, engineered timbers from recycled wood products, concrete using power station ash waste and rainwater harvesting. The project is a joint venture between the Liberty Consortium and Ballymagroarty Hazelbank Community Partnership with input from the Northwest Regional College.
