Extension to Thatched House, Kinnego Bay, Co. Donegal

Extension and repairs to a 3 room thatched house to provide kitchen/dining room, bedroom and bathroom accommodation. The house is designed to retain as much of the original building fabric as possible. The roof, was replaced using Irish reed in place of the flax covering, based on examples of reed thatch used elsewhere in Inishowen. The relatively large extension was designed to retain the importance of the thatched building from the roadside. To the rear the extension opens up with windows increasing in scale to take advantage of panoramic views of Kinnego Bay.
